| "AS GOOD AS IT GETS" Warwick O'Brien Author and photographer Warwick O'Brien, and dive buddy Tom Byron, traveled on board Supersport in June 2004, right in our peak Minke Whale season. Warwick O'Brien was born in Sydney in 1942 and has been diving for some 35 years. With good buddy, Tom Byron, he pioneered Expeditionary Diving in remote areas of the South Pacific and has published many photographic and journalistic articles in magazines including Skindiving Australia and New Zealand, Sportdiving Australasia and South Pacific, Underwater, Scuba Diver and GEO the Australian Geographical. Warwick has been awarded for his photographic work including a Nikon Award for a short movie production. At the age of 62, Warwick, is still diving and plans to do so "until he no longer draws breath." Warwick was lucky enough to get some great shots of the Minke Whales. When asked what was the most outstanding feature of their expedition on board Supersport both Warwick and Tom said without hesitation "the Minke Whales." Tom Byron further stated "this is as good as it gets." Photo's courtesy of Warwick O'Brien. |
