LEARNING TO DIVE ON THE GBR!

From the dive deck – by Kerrin Jones

Lots of dive training was done on this expedition, with four divers completing their PADI Open Water course onboard, and another six divers working on their Advanced Open Water certification. Great weather for most of the week, with marine life highlights including sightings of mantas and a hammerhead, along with turtles and plenty of nudibranchs.

Everything and more

From the dive deck – by Jelle Kolet

Pristine corals full of colour and thick with life, hammerheads, lemon sharks, leopard sharks, silvertips, grey reef sharks and a whale shark! Stingrays, marble rays, eagle rays, mantas and devil rays swooping past in squadrons. But let’s not forget the countless turtles at Raine Island and the exploratory dives that produced new dive sites of untold beauty and proof the reef is very much alive.

FAR NORTH GBR TURTLE SPECTACULAR!

From the dive deck – by Kerrin Jones

This week Mike Ball himself joined us, along with a group from Rec Divers (Michigan, USA) and a few others, for a far northern GBR exploratory expedition known as the Turtle Spectacular. Light winds from the north and west made for smooth sailing and provided the opportunity to explore some rarely dived outer reef walls. Highlights included some coral spawning activity, cuttlefish laying eggs, and a variety of sharks including a hammerhead sighting!
