Minke whale encounters, Cod Hole, Twin Bommie and the end of trip BBQ.

Great fun, diving and minke action!

Unfortunately we did not have a videographer on board this week. The video on display was filmed the 1st week of July 2015. We had similar great fun, diving and minke action as we had this week.

While the diving was amazing, snorkelling with the minkes, the crew and Minke Researcher Alistair were equally amazing and made for a really special trip.

Molly Crowe - UK

Seeing turtles, sharks and cuttlefish were highlights but having a 5 hour encounter with 5 whales on my 18th birthday was unbeatable.

Thank you to the crew for getting me to the point of comfort diving where I could relax and enjoy the marine life and, of course, the Minke Whales.

Chris Dichman - USA

The Minke whale information and diving - the experience was completely unique and the entire crew went out of their way to ensure it happened.

Ruth Mullender - UK

The Minke whale swim was of course a highlight, but the huge shoals of fish from on the reef were breathtaking. A relaxed and fun experience.

We had amazing marine encounters with Minkes and Humpback whales. It was a privilege to have Dr Alistair Birtles onboard to share his knowledge.

Whales, whales, whales! Great diversity of people, ecology, culinary tastes and a great number of fish and colours. Overall, a great, great time.

Julia Payson - USA

Thank you for an amazing experience - shark dive, minke encounters, humpbacks, nautilus, the food, having Mike and Dr Birtles onboard and the staff - they were incredible.

The Special 7 Night Minke Whale Coral Sea Expedition was amazing.

The minkes put on their biggest performances of the season. Special guest Dr. Alastair Birtles, founder of the minke whale project described the Two Towers and Lighthouse Bommie encounters as the ‘most energetic and vocal’ he had witnessed in years. At Osprey Reef guests were treated to a spectacular shark feed, with 30 plus grey reef sharks within 2 metres while three large sliver tips came less close.

A large Manta Ray slowly swooped by at Nautilus Wall while the crew were making preparations for the next morning’s dive, an up-close encounter with 11 Nautilus at Admiralty Anchor. Throw in an hour long breaching display from two large Humpback Whales we enjoyed a fanfare send off to a phenomenal week at sea.
