Black Manta Ray welcome

From the dive deck - Jelle Kolet

On the first dive a black manta ray joined us on the Great Barrier Reef, a fantastic start to the expedition. Male Cuttlefish were competing for females at Coral kingdom and big schools of sailfin snapper were abundant at the Cod hole displaying rarely seen behaviour. An abundance of nudibranchs at Lighthouse bommie was the cherry on the cake.

Callum was clear on the OW skills we needed to practice and simultaneously made sure we got to see the dive site & marine highlights.

Anthony Davis - USA

The variety of dive sites was excellent - some deep, some shallow, pinnacles, reef walls. We gained experience doing both guided and free dives.

Stirling Family - USA

We loved the friendly, fun & helpful crew, the food, the amazing dive sites with different, incredible things to see, and just the chance to truly eat, dive, sleep, repeat.

Having a Ball in the Coral Sea

From the dive deck - Kerrin Jones

This week Mike Ball joined us for the Coral Sea portion of the trip, with three days spent at Bougainville and Osprey Reefs. One of the highlights was an exciting shark feed, followed by a private shark shoot for the serious photographers. Travelling south back to Cairns down the Ribbon Reefs, our recent spate of manta ray sightings continued with several sightings at various dive sites.

Amazing pinnacles

From the dive deck - Jelle Kolet

The Ribbon Reefs showed themselves from their best side this week. Pixie pinnacle was a delight for divers. From Barracuda lined up in cleaning stations to colourful nudibranchs traversing the stunning corals. Wobbegong sharks showed themselves at Steve’s Bommie. Guests spiralled around Lighthouse Bommie enjoying turtles, sea snakes and dog tooth tuna.

Manta action continues on the GBR!

From the dive deck - Kerrin Jones

Although weather conditions prevented us from travelling out to the Coral Sea, our recent spate of manta sightings on the GBR continued with a great encounter at Snake Pit being a highlight of the expedition for many divers. An extra bonus was a brief sighting of a whale shark at Lighthouse Bommie. And now time for Spoilsport’s 2018 refit! Dive trips will resume in March.

Fantastic, attentive crew nothing too much trouble. Thank-you so much for a fab trip.

All great but I especially liked the 'opendeck' so I could miss one dive a day but not miss a site.
