To Forever Cherish

From the dive deck – by Jelle Kolet

Three happy couples celebrated their honeymoon on board Spoilsport this week. Sea snakes, cuttlefish, hunting sharks, octopus, schools of tropical fish and colourful corals created a wonderful backdrop for memories made that will stay with them forever. Over 30 meter visibility, a calm ocean and clear skies made for perfect conditions for the trip of a lifetime!

BEST OF THE GREAT BARRIER REEF

From the dive deck – by Kerrin Jones

This week our divers experienced the best of the Great Barrier Reef, enjoying the splendid hard corals at Coral Kingdom, a manta ray sighting, and encountering friendly potato cod at the Cod Hole. On the southbound leg of the expedition divers saw eagle rays at Snake Pit, sea snakes and turtles at Lighthouse Bommie and encountered an octopus hunting in broad daylight at Steve’s Bommie.

Sea snakes and a loggerhead turtle!

From the dive deck – Kiana Saltarelli

Spoilsport left for a unique Saturday departure, allowing us to explore the untouched southern side of the Great Barrier Reef. A loggerhead turtle kept our divers company during a night dive, while olive sea snakes came out to play during the day. The last dive left a lasting impression with a manta ray swimming amongst the shallows of Summer Bay.

FAR NORTH CORAL SEA EXPLORATORY EXPEDITION!

From the dive deck – by Kerrin Jones

For this week long far north Coral Sea expedition Spoilsport visited Bougainville Reef before heading to the rarely visited reefs of the far northern GBR. In addition to the pristine coral, divers encountered creatures both large and small, including a great hammerhead shark, leopard shark and a school of eagle rays. At the other extreme were tiny pygmy seahorses, rare lacy scorpionfish, and some exotic nudibranchs.

Best thing was definitely the professionalism of the MB staff with difficult weather circumstances. All the Bommie dives were awesome.

Enjoyed diving with various guides, it reduced stress and enhanced experience.

THE START OF A NEW YEAR ON THE GBR!

From the dive deck – by Kerrin Jones

Although we experienced adverse weather (caused by the low-pressure system which became Tropical Cyclone Penny), our guests soon discovered that it was much nicer beneath the surface than above it. Divers enjoyed the excellent coral of the Ribbon Reefs, along with plenty of fascinating marine life such as turtles, sea snakes, sharks, nudibranchs, and cuttlefish. We celebrated the coming of the New Year onboard, before heading back to Cairns.
